Amwell

Amwell

Within the village of Stansted Abbots and hidden from view by shop fronts, lie 2 fairly small but very pretty carp lakes. These lakes seem slightly out of place nestled behind a busy road and shop fronts. The entrance gate to the Cemex Angling Amwell Syndicate is located at the back of the car park

I have found that in the colder months a small scattering of broken baits and a small bait on the hair fished just over the reeds in the edge is a good tactic.

Redmire Pool

Redmire Pool

Hidden within the hills and countryside of Herefordshire, lies a small 2 acre pool. The casual wonderer would just walk past this lake not paying much attention, they could be forgiven for that, for they may not appreciate the past of this historic carp lake. Created in 1934 when the then owners of the estate instructed a fish supplier by the name of Donald Leney to stock the pool with 50 small Carp (5 to 8 inches) in a bid to combat the extensive weed in the pool
